The 2019 Winter Universiade flame lighting ceremony organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) took place in Turin (Italy) on 20 September. Turin became the first city of the international stage of the 2019 Winter Universiade Torch Relay. The flame lighting ceremony is traditionally held in Turin. Turin was the first Summer Universiade host city in 1959.

The General Director of the “Russia-2018” Organizing Committee Aleksey Sorokin, Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects Azat Kadyrov, and Chief Technologist of the Luzhniki Stadium Kirill Kistersky, Expert of Digital Technologies Ivan Ryndin took part in the event organized by the Ministry of Education of Russia and dedicated to the sports industry. A famous sports commentator and TV host Yevgeny Savin was chosen for the role of a moderator of the lesson.

Russian swimmers won some more gold medals on the final day of the first leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup.

On the third day of the FINA Swimming World Cup tatar athletes took two prizes. 

Today young swimmers of Kazan got a chance not only to enjoy the competition of the best athletes of the world, but they also tried themselves as real swimming stars. This morning the 50m swimming pool at the Aquatics Palace, where the FINA World Cup is underway, became the site of the battles of future champions currently attending youth athletic training centres.
