Morozov sets one more FINA swimming world cup record in Kazan

8 September 2018, Saturday

The second day of the FINA Swimming World Cup in Kazan was full of fantastic sessions, bright victories and fast seconds.

Vladimir Morozov became one of the heroes. He won two gold medals in the individual disciplines and set record in the 50m backstroke race. The athlete had a good rest before the tournament, and, probably, this led him to success.

“Everything worked out. My goal to win two races today was not easy to achieve. I had very strong rivals – World Champion and Olympic Champion. I could confirm my victories just on the last metres of the races thanks to good touching. I feel great. Although it’s amazing to swim at my best after having a rest. I need to relax more”, Morozov confessed.

The 1500m race leader Iaroslav Potapov won the second gold medal in Kazan. The champion noted that, in comparison with the previous day, when he had managed to win the 400m race, he felt better.

“Today’s race was easier than yesterday’s. I have absolutely different feelings. My state of mind was better, everything was great. My result is not as good as expected, I could be faster, but, in general, I am quite satisfied. It was physically draining to swim. I wasn’t prepared properly. I wasn’t training for this race. It was difficult”, Potapov said.
