Hosszu’s two gold medals, Sjostrom's record and Simonova's victory

The first day of the FINA Swimming World Cup in Kazan ended.

We will remember the first day session of the World Cup for the greatest performance of Katinka Hosszu (Hungary).

Hosszu won three medals right away – two gold and one silver. Also, she ranked seven in the 50m freestyle race. The multiple winner of the World Cup is seriously focused on getting one more title. It should be noted that Maria Kameneva and Lada Bragina shared the bronze medal.

The Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjostrom not only won the race, she set the new World Cup record. Some more sessions are waiting for her. She seems to be physically fit.

“After the European Championship I almost had no chance to rest properly and didn’t know what to expect from myself in Kazan. I'm happy to be the winner. I'm so curious to know how I'll manage to work my way through the rest of challenges”, Sjostrom noted.

1. Sarah Sjostrom, Sweden – 23.83

2. Ranomi Kromowidjojo, the Netherlands – 24.55

3. Femke Heemskerk, the Netherlands – 24.64

Vitalina Simonova won the first gold for the Team Russia. She admitted that she did not expect such fast seconds from herself.

“I'm really satisfied with my result. I didn't expect such a great performance from myself. The European Championship was unsuccessful for certain reasons. I'm happy that I've performed so well in Kazan. I paced myself, tried to control my body power and managed to win”, Simonova admitted.
