11 superfans will go to FIFA World Cup™ final draw

28 November 2017, Tuesday

The final draw of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, which will take place on 1 December in Moscow, will bring together thousands of famous guests. According to the traditions, the delegations from the 32 participant countries, legendary football players, well-known artists and officials will come to the event. This time the event will bring together as well 11 guests on honour - citizens of the World Cup host cities, who earned the title of the Superfans by their eagerness and commitment to football. Kazan will be represented by Sergey Serov, pediatric neurosurgeon. He dedicated all his life to medicine, as well as to football.

Sergey, born and bred in Kazan, has been supporting the FC Rubin for more than half a century. He was 6 years old when his did took him to the stadium for the first time. The unity of the spectators and the team spirit astonished the young boy.

Today he still goes to the matches. But now he watches the matches with his own family: his wife Veronika, 9 year old daughter Katya and 4 years-old son Styopa - all enjoy visiting the matches together. They were on all matches of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup which were held at the Kazan Arena. Sergey goes to all games taking place in Kazan and almost each away game: together with his wife they were on the matches in Barcelona, Vienna, Milan, Parma, Lyon, and Wolfsburg. He is also an unofficial president of the medic fans of the FC Rubin.

Sergey loves to say that, despite the apparent differences between the medicine and football, they have a lot in common: both need the collective actions to get good results.

It is a great honour to be a Superfan of the FIFA World Cup™ host city and represent the Russian, and in particular Kazan fans. "This is a responsible and honorable mission, as the prestige of the country is at stake," Sergey says.

The youngest Superfan, Misha Smolin from Moscow, is only 6 year old. As long as he remembers, he has been passionate about football and waited for the FIFA World Cup™ in Russia to put on one of his 300 football scarfs.

The most experienced Superfan is Viktor Pautov from Saransk, 75 y.o., trombonist. For 20 years he has been supporting the players from Mordovia, playing the trombone at the matches. Viktor will be glad to play the anthem of any country that will come to the capital of Mordovia for the FIFA World Cup™.

Olga Paramonova is a beautiful Superfan from Volgograd. Former Director of the Central Stadium, which has been replaced by the Volgograd Arena, dreams to announce the line up of the teams playing at the FIFA World Cup™.
