Countdown: 50 days to go until FIFA World cup 2018
Only 50 days left to go until the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. Kazan is ready to welcome its guests and is looking forward to matches that will be played at Kazan Arena: France and Australia will play on 16 June, IR Iran and Spain – on 20 June, Poland and Colombia will play on 24 June, and the encounter of Korea Republic and Germany will take place on 27 June. Play off games will be held in Kazan on 30 June (Round of 16) and 6 July (Round of 8).
The Kazan Arena stadium – the first football stadium in Russia constructed in the build-up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ – will play main stage to matches in Kazan. The venue is the home ground for FC Rubin Kazan. During the group stage of the competition, all teams will stay and train between matches in their TBCs, three of which are located in Tatarstan: FC Rubin First Team Training Ground (Kazan), HC Ak Bars Training Base (Kazan), Mountain skiing sport-sanitary complex Kazan (Savino village, Verkhneuslon district).
Currently, the recruiting of Host City Volunteers is coming to its end. They will help the largest client group of the tournament, the fans. More than 3,000 applications were received with a total requirement of 1,000 volunteers. The application process kicked off on 6 March 2018, and it will conclude on 28 April 2018. Based on the outcome of the interviews, 6 groups of volunteers will be formed: Host City volunteers infopoints, transport volunteers, flow management at the Kazan Arena territory, medical assistance at the city hospitals (Russian Clinical Hospital, City Clinical Hospital №7, Republican Infectious Clinical Hospital), volunteers management, FIFA Fan Fest. The Directorate for Sports and Social Projects is the operator of the Host City Volunteers programme in Kazan.
As we have informed, both the volunteers of the Russia 2018 LOC and Host City Volunteers will assist the spectators during the event in Kazan. These two programmes differ in the functional areas of the volunteers and their client groups. The Russia 2018 LOC are engaged in the processes directly related to the organisation of the tournament. This team consists of 1,342 persons. The recruiting for the volunteers of the Russia 2018 LOC is currently over.
