“I will be glad to come back to Kazan next year”. Athletes compete for some more World Cup prizes
On the third day of the FINA Swimming World Cup tatar athletes took two prizes.
Eduard Valiakhmetov brought joy to his fans, having won the 400m medley. He was awarded the silver medal. He gathered speed during the second part of the race and finished second following David Verraszto (Hungary).
“I tried to achieve my main result (4:19), but it didn’t work out due to illness. Actually, not everything turned out according to my plans. I intended to swim this race better. But I am satisfied with my prize. Everything is OK. I’ll keep working”, Valiakhmetov admitted.

Mitchell Larkin won the 100m back race. The pool at the Aquatics Palace is lucky for him, indeed. Earlier, Larkin came first in the 200m back race. Vladimir Morozov took the bronze medal.
“I am happy that Kazan hosts the World Cup. It is a beautiful city with interesting places and rich culture. I am delighted with the result. I will be glad to come back to Kazan next year,” Larkin said.

Morozov won one more bronze medal in the 50m butterfly race. This time Andrii Govorov (Ukraine) set the new record, having achieved victory.
“I will evaluate my performance giving 7 points out of 10. I did the best I could. It’s my third visit to Kazan. I became the winner at the 2013 Summer Universiade. The pool is fast here. Everything is organized very well”, Govorov noted.

Katinka Hosszu (Hungary) won other medals in Kazan. Unsurprisingly, she got her nickname “the Iron Lady”. She lost to Chanzhen Zhou (China) in the 800m race. It turned out to be much more difficult to compete with her in the 200m backstroke race and 200m medley. Irina Prikhodko, swimmer from Tatarstan, won the silver medal.
“Everything is all right. The result is excellent. I think I have accomplished my mission. I thought I would be able to draw level with Hosszu. But my power tends to fade away toward the end. My performance in Kazan was more than good. I had no problems with my physical condition. It was perfect. It's great that Kazan is the host city of the World Cup. People help and support me here”, Irina Prikhodko said.
