Ten schools to train Universiade volunteers named in Kazan

Ten school, to train city volunteers for 2013 Universiade, were on Monday named at a Team 2013 gala concert among school and further education institutions students in Kazan.
The Team 2013 volunteer project’s 4th season began on 19 January 2012. The project, implemented by the Kazan 2013 executive directorate with the support of the Kazan department of further education, was held among school students. Between January and April, the volunteer teams performed various tasks set by the Kazan 2013 executive directorate, thought of unconventional solutions to social problems, kept web blogs and studied the culture of Universiade countries.
According to the advisor to Kazan 2013 director general Larisa Sulima, a total of 165 schools and 52 further education institutions participated in a best volunteer team competition. Twenty one schools and 9 further education establishments reached the final. The Team 2013 competition, held among Kazan’s vocational institutions, was summed up as well. The project purports to assemble a 5,000-strong team of city volunteers for the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan. In all, about 20 thousand volunteers are expected to take part in the games.
“It is deeply symbolic for us that on 19 January we launched the Team 2013 project, together with FISU summer Universiades director Marc Vandenplas. It so happened that we are summing up the project’s results with his participation as well,” Larisa Sulima stressed.
“The work done by the children is great,” Marc Vandenplas shared his impressions from the final gala.
“The work done by city volunteers is one of the most important parts of the games programme. Volunteers are the key to Universiade’s success,” he enhanced. “Whomever you talk to, the first thing they remember is how they were met by volunteers,” he added.
The Team 2013 winners were pronounced the high schools No 90, 52, 2, 122, as well as vocational schools No 83, 116 and 177.
Jeddah city in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has hosted a "Fitness Diploma" for the first time, run under the supervision of Fitness Pioneers Academy and Dar Al - Hekma University representing the Saudi Side while Kazan Cooperative University from the Republic of Tatarstan has represented the Russian Side.
Anastasia Fesikova, representing Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Kaluga Oblast, took gold in the 50m backstroke race at the Russian Short Course Swimming Championship in Kazan (26.94).
