Ak Bars of Kazan has in the new KHL championship’s season started with a confident win.

Ak Bars, with the support of 5 thousand fans, brought down Severstal of Cherepovetsk in Tatneft Arena. Russian national hockey team’s head coach and Kazan team former coach Zinetulla Bilaletdinov watched the match from the stands.

The most goal-filled part of the game was the beginning, when the victory over the Belov’s team was effectively won. The four goals, scored by Obukhov, Kapanen, Medvedev and Pesonen, were only reciprocated by one from Severstal.

The puck nearly flying inside the Ak Bars goal posts in the second 20 minutes was probably the only moment worth mentioning.

In the third part, the teams exchanged goals. In the 49th minute, Ryazantsev hit the hosts’s goal posts. World junior champion Denis Golubev scored a decisive goal, securing a score of 5:2 in favour of Ak Bars.

“The team today were in high spirits, the guys were serious about the match,” Ak Bars’s coach Valery Belov said in a brief interview after the game.
