Tatarstan is interested in cooperation with Indonesia

President of Tatarstan R. Minnikhanov on Wednesday met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Russia Djauhari Oratmangun, the presidential press service reports. The meeting took place at the Kazan Kremlin, other officials representing Tatarstan being culture minister Airat Sibagatullin, youth affairs, sport and tourism minister Rafis Burganov and others.

R. Minnikhanov thanked the ambassador for his interest in Tatarstan and work to increase relations with Russia, including with its regions.

Tatarstan is interested in cooperating with Indonesia, he enhanced, in particular, in trade, economy and promoting products onto the Indonesian market (automotive industry, helicopter making, shipbuilding, et cetera). Besides, he went on to note, tourist traffic to Indonesia and Tatarstan needed to be increased.

“We are equally interested in the Indonesia’s experience in the field of interethnic and interfaith relations,” Tatarstan governor said. “Over 200 ethnic groups live in peace and accord in Indonesia. Peaceful co-existence is an especially urgent problem in the present-day world, where conflicts caused by faith, ethnic and cultural differences arise.”

R. Minnikhanov said Tatarstan and Indonesia should exchange business missions, to strengthen the mutually beneficial relations.

D. Oratmangun assured R. Minnikhanov the Indonesian side would make every effort to prepare a visit to Indonesia of Tatarstan's business representatives and of President of Tatarstan.

“We need to work for the good of our peoples, increase our cooperation,” he said.
