Athletes from Tatarstan win three gold medals at world weight lifting championship

A world weight lifting championship on 4-10 November took place in the Israeli town of Eilat. The list of student participants included three representatives from Tatarstan, Artyom Okulov, Dmitry Khomiakov and Gennady Muratov.

The Tatarstan Youth Affairs, Sport and Tourism Ministry says on its website Artyom Okulov at the student championship won in the up to 85 kilograms category, in the jerk event lifting a weight of 162 kilograms and conquering 195 kilograms in a push. Okulov took a total of 357 kilograms in the double event.

Dmitry Khomiakov came in first in the weight category of up to 77 kilograms, lifting 155 kilograms in a jerk, 183 in a push and scoring a total of 338 kilos.

Gennady Muratov was pronounced the world student champion in the up to 105 kilo category, jerking 175 kilos, pushing 220 and thus scoring 395 kilos.
