University Sambo World Cup will take place in Kazan

Test event is scheduled to be held in Kazan any time soon. The Ak Bars Wrestling Palace, one of landmark venues for the Games, is set to host the 2012 University Sambo World Cup on November 30-December 3.

It is expected that sambo wrestlers from over 35 countries will participate in the tournament. Entries have already been received from such countries as the USA, Venezuela, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Ukraine, Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Italy, Israel, Germany, France, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Korea, Mauritius. Athletes of Japan, Cameroon, Morocco, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Georgia, Moldavia, Greece, Great Britain, Spain, Turkey, Canada, Republic of Panama will also take part in the tournament. 

Under the regulations for the University Sambo World Cup 2012 held under the patronage of FISU, the age of competitors shall not exceed 27 years as of January 1 of the current year.

Male sambo wrestlers will compete in the following weight categories: 52, 57, 62, 68, 74, 82, 90, 100; while female sambo wrestlers will battle each other in the 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 72, 80, over 80 kg events. Individual event winners will be awarded medals and diplomas and team winners will be honoured with cups and diplomas. Coaches who have trained winning athletes will receive diplomas as well.
