Tatarstan to set up Judo Federation Centre in Kazan

Tatarstan Judo Federation Centre will be set up on the grounds of the Olympic reserve sports school Batyr, federation’s president, Fayaz Shabayev, said at a report and election conferenceб held today at the premises of the Tatarstan Youth, Sport and Tourism Ministry.

“I expect the centre to be able to evolve into a platform for training and holding large tournaments of both the Tatarstan team, as well as the national team,” the official enhanced.

Federal Drug Control Service branch chief, Police Lieutenant General Fayaz Shabayev, headed up the Tatarstan Judo Federation in August 2012.

The list of distinguished guests at the conference included Russia Judo Federation executive director, Valentin Khabirov, first deputy youth affairs, sport and tourism minister of Tatarstan, Azat Sharipov, and Tatarstan branch of the Russian Penitentiary Service head, Daufit Khamadishin.

“The fact that the Batyr sports venue will work for judo, I think, is a great success, victory,” V. Khabirov said. “There is land there. A hotel and additional facilities for our sport are planned to be built.”

The conference approved a new revision of Tatarstan Judo Federation’s rules, elected a new presidium and set out priority directions for judo development. The list includes developing mass judo in the republic and making the sport available for all through setting up judo clubs in each district of the larger cities and each rural region of Tatarstan.
