Tatarstan’s main New Year fest to be dedicated to Universiade and concluded with Maksim singing

Tatarstan’s main New Year party will take place on 26 December in Kazan. The traditional performance that has for 12 years been the year’s main celebration for thousands of young Tatarstan residents will take place in Tatneft Arean, marking the beginning of the year of the 27th World Summer Universiade.

The games mascot, snow leopard cub Uni, will be the main hero of the Stars Shine in Your Hands performance. The script’s main storyline is an exciting travel across the five continents, along the magic sports flame’s route. The story teaches teenagers be strong, persistent, achieve set goals, and advertises a healthy lifestyle. Picturesque scenes with the participation of junior creative groups, the total number of performers being over 1 thousand, will alternate with athletic performances.

The show will be concluded with a concert by the singer Maksim.

To enhance the visual impact, a two-tier stage will be constructed in Tatneft Arena and striking video projection based design used. The New Year tree’s design will be unique as well.

The 1.5-hour show will feature sports stars, as well as New Year’s main heroes, Father Frost and his granddaughter, Snegurochka (Ice Maiden). President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, will deliver greetings to the younger Tatarstan residents, about 7.5 thousand of whom are expected to come to the show.
