Kazan becomes “New Year’ Capital of Russia

Kazan is announced to become Russia’s Capital of New Year celebrations under another large-scale project of Russian Culture Ministry aimed to increase tourists’ flows. The New Year’s capital will be chosen among Russian cities annually and undergo “special celebrations” according to its “special status”, said Sergei Korneev, Head of Culture Ministry’s department of tourism and regional policies.

This year the fest was arranged by one of Saint Petersburg entertainment companies, it has been keeping a lid on details of the ceremony so far.

Kazan citizens will have a chance to see Ded Moroz who will arrive in Kazan from his residence in Velikiy Ustyug. Ded Moroz will be accompanied by his Tatar colleague Kysh Babai and a snow leopard cub Uni, a symbol of Universiade 2013. The honourable guests will light up a 30 m high tree, the official New Years Treeof Russia that is placed in Millennium Park, Kazan.
