Russian crew takes lead in Dakar 2013’s truck category

The 9th stage of the Dakar 2013 transcontinental rally raid on Monday took place on the San Miguel de Tucuman – Cordoba route. Trucks were the first to hit the road.

The Czech crew, led by Ales Loprais, with a 7-second interval followed by the Dutch Peter Versluis on a Man. The second runner-up was the No 510 Kamaz Master crew that included Andrei Karginov, Andrei Mokeev and Igor Devyatkin, whose lagging behind was 1 minute and 36 seconds.

The other Kamaz Master crew, No 501, led by pilot Eduard Nikolayev, finished 6th, lagging behind 3 minutes and 34 seconds. This allowed the Russian crew that the day before was second in the truck category climb up to the first position in the nine stages standings.

The Kamaz Master crew No 505, including Aidar Mardeev, Aidar Belayev and Anton Mirny, finished 12th, being 12 minutes and 21 seconds behind.

The list of top five in the truck category, therefore, includes two Kamaz Master crews.

The racers are to perform in another 5 stages of the race.
