Russian sport minister called the venue in Kazan a highly effective stadium compliant with the FIFA requirements.
The amount spent to build stadiums for the world football championship in Russia needs to be the same in all cities, while the venue in Kazan should be a guide for the builders, Russia sport minister, Vitaly Mutko, on Sunday said in Saint-Petersburg.
The statement was made immediately after a joint news conference, given by FIFA president, Joseph Blatter, Russia sport minister, Russia Football Union president, Nikolai Tolstykh, and Russia 2018 organising committee director general, Alexei Sorokin.
“The stadiums need to be equally priced, the stadium in Kazan, turn-key costing about 12 billion roubles and seating 45 thousand, will be a small prototype. It is a highly effective stadium, compliant with every FIFA requirement; on 1 March we will deliver it to the Universiade organising committee,” Mutko said.
FIFA-certified well-known companies would be involved, the minister went on to say, adding that a construction competition would before the year’s end be announced in Kaliningrad and Samara.
Meanwhile, a competition, to think of a name for the new stadium in Kazan, continues. Its first round will take place between 18 and 24 January 2013. Name versions can be sent in at pr@tatar-inform.ru with a note” for competition”.
