Students in Khabarovsk will for a short while be keepers of the flame of the coming Kazan Universiade, the region’s government has said.
The flame will then travel to Yakutsk and to federal educational institutions in Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk. On 6 May, 2013, the brand train and torch relay motorcade will begin moving across Siberia, south and east, as well as Central Russia and Volga Region larger cities.
In each city, the torch bearers, replacing each other every 100-200 meters, will run with the flame across the central streets and campuses. The honorary mission to carry the torch will be entrusted to students who have achieved significant sports and social successes, academic results, to the best volunteers, prominent public activists, as well as to officials representing universities management and regional authorities.
The relay’s route is laid across 30 Russian largest student centres. The relay will conclude on 6 July, the day of the 27th Universiade opening in Kazan.
