Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre opens in Kazan

19 March 2013, Tuesday

The Kazan 2013 Summer Universiade Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre (UDAC) was launched today in Kazan. The centre offers all necessary facilities for different client groups to collect their accreditation passes and uniforms. It will operate until July 17, 2013.

The centre will be the main base for accreditation and uniform distribution for members of the Kazan 2013 SU Organising Committee, workforce, volunteers, performers, judges, media, healthcare workers, law enforcement officers. President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Natalia Parshikova, Russian Presidential Aide Yury Trutnev, Prime Minister of Tatastan Ildar Khalikov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and other officials were amongst the first to attend the centre and collect their Games-time uniforms and accreditation badges. The officials were able to experience first-hand how accreditation and uniform distribution work.

The accreditation process is held as quickly and comfortably as possible and takes about 5 minutes. Upon entering the centre's lobby, visitors are welcomed by a hostess and taken to an accreditation desk which caters for the needs of their client group. People seeking accreditation must show an ID to a duty manager who scans databases and checks that applicants are who they say they are and, if the information is correct, hands out an accreditation badge.

The Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre has a total area of 1,012 square metres and is equipped with the following facilities: a welcome area, an official delegations zone, an accreditation zone, a uniform collection area, etc. "Up to 60,000 people will pick up their accreditation at the centre. Distribution of over 31,500 sets of Forward uniforms for different categories of personnel, volunteers and judges will be arranged here as well," said Larisa Sulima, Deputy Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate.

Services specifically catering for the needs of volunteers play an increasingly important role in the centre. All 20,000 volunteers of the 27th Summer Universiade will go through several stages in the UDAC including picking up accreditation badges, getting a kit bag pre-filled with merchandise and collecting a sim card from MegaFon, the General Partner of the Games, and a bank card from OAO AK BARS Bank, the Official Bank and Banking Services Provider to the Kazan 2013 Summer Universiade. The latter will offer a wide range of bonuses and discounts to volunteers.

AK BARS Bank cards will be given to all categories of accredited client groups as the card will serve as a pass through access control points upon presentation of an accreditation badge. Plus, thanks to its contactless transaction technology MasterCard® PayPass™, the card can be used as a means of payment for public transport fares.

The accreditation process will be arranged in three stages. From March to April, members of the Organising Committee, representatives of state authorities and departments of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate staff, Kazan 2013 volunteers, representatives of management teams of higher education institutions and secondary specialised education establishments will have been undergoing the accreditation process. In May the Accreditation Centre will welcome volunteers, medical workers, law enforcement officers, performers. The accreditation process will complete in June-July when media representatives, judges, contractors, law enforcement officials, OC's guests, broadcasters, regional and international volunteers will be accredited for the Games.
