Mintimer Shaimiev gets accreditation for Unviersiade 2013 in Kazan

Tatarstan’s State Counsellor, Mintimer Shaimiev, on Tuesday visited the 27th World Summer Universiade centre of accreditation and uniform issuance.

The centre opened on 18 March, President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Russia envoy to the VFD, Mikhail Babich, and other officials being the first to receive accreditation badges.

Kazan 2013 deputy director general, Larisa Sulima, told M. Shaimiev how the centre operated, showing him the official delegation welcome, accreditation and uniform issuance areas, and demonstrating samples of 1973 accreditation badges used during the World Summer Student Games in Moscow.

After a several-minute accreditation, M. Shaimiev was given an accreditation badge and a bank card that allows passing through terminals and access control points. Besides, the card contains a transport application and can be used as money. In conclusion of the tour, M. Shaimiev was presented souvenirs with Universiade symbols.

Speaking of the upcoming event, M. Shaimiev stressed a long way had been made for the right to host the games. According to the counsellor, both FISU experts and Russia President, Vladimir Putin, appreciated the sports facilities having been prepared over a short time.

“We are an example of economical, efficient spending of funds allocated to build sports facilities,” he is convinced.

M.Shaimiev noted he could not visit all events within Universiade. “I like many sports, though, and I try following competitions, and I go to them,” he shared.

“One ought to do sports. Sport helps to become a personality and have one’s feet firmly on the ground,” he concluded.
