Two bicycle tourists from Kazan, Alen Khairullin and Pavel Grachev, who embarked on a world cycling tour around the world, are currently approaching the West Coast of the United States. The cyclists, who dedicated their odyssey to the upcoming 2013 Summer Universiade and the 100th anniversary of Onisim Pankratov's circumnavigation, reached Brawley, CA.
"Yesterday we've set up a tent in a rest area for drivers. We've had a good sleep, woke up early and quickly packed things up for the trip. We reached Brawley after having travelled 167km, 10km of which were picturesque sand-drifts and dunes! And another 40 kilometres were a desert and salt marshes!" the travellers wrote in their social media blog post.
The bicycle tourists plan to reach Los Angeles on March 30, then to take a plane to China and travel through Manchuria and Transbaikalia, Siberia and Urals and be back to their home city.
