On Thursday, April 4, FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien, who is currently on a working visit to Kazan, paid a visit to the Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre for the 27th Summer Universiade.
The FISU President was shown how the accreditation process, collection of accreditation badges and distribution of uniforms to client groups involved in catering for the Games fields of play will be carried out. He saw for himself that everything is arranged as efficiently as possible and the entire procedure takes only a few minutes which he experienced first hand, going through the accreditation process and getting his accreditation badge.
As we reported earlier, the Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre operates according to approved schedules. In March-April 2013, the accreditation process will be open to members of the Organising Committee, representatives of Tatarstan's ministries and departments, Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate staff, volunteers, representatives of management teams of higher education institutions and secondary specialised education establishments. In May the centre will welcome support staff, volunteers, medical workers, law enforcement officers, performers. The accreditation process will be completed in June-July when media representatives, judges, contractors, law enforcement officials, OC's guests, broadcasters, regional and international volunteers will get accreditation badges for the Games. A total of 60,000 people will be accredited. Over 31,500 sets of uniforms, designed and manufactured by Forward, the official sportswear supplier to Kazan 2013, will be distributed to volunteers, judges and different categories of personnel.
Prior to visiting the Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre, Claude-Louis Gallien inspected a number of Universiade venues. He toured the Aquatics Palace, which was constructed especially for the Games and is currently getting ready to host test events and Kazan Arena, the new football stadium, where construction works are reaching their final stages.
Tonight Claude-Louis Gallien will take part in the Universiade Village key handover ceremony. The event will unfold at the International Information Centre. At Games time the venue will house the Main Operations Centre, arrivals and departures services, Main Info Centre and Sport Info Centre.
On Friday, April 5, the FISU President will have a meeting with Heads of Delegation from over 120 countries participating in the upcoming Summer Universiade. This event is a long-standing FISU tradition aimed at making sports managers from all continents of the world familiar with facilities provided for athletes by World University Games organisers. The Heads of Delegation will be given an insight into the host city's infrastructure and full range of services to be offered to national delegations at Games time.
Besides, they will get answers to all their concerns regarding safety and security arrangements during the 2013 Summer Universiade, accommodation, catering, transport services, etc.
The FISU President's visit schedule also includes a meeting with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Russia's Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko, as well as attendance at the All-Russian University Koresh and Freestyle Wrestling Competitions which are held these days in Kazan as part of the host city's test events ahead of the Games.
A few other FISU events and activities are scheduled for the summer 2013. The FISU Family's arrival in Kazan is expected on June 15, with the FISU Supervision Committee for the Summer Universiades and FISU Executive Committee taking place on June 30-July 1. The FISU General Assembly will be held in the host city on July 3-4.
