Russian Swimming Cup Final: Yana Martynova qualifies for FINA World Championships

On the first day of action at the Russian Swimming Cup Final in Kazan, Yana Martynova of Tatarstan earned a berth on Team Russia for the FINA World Championships in the 400m medley.

Yana finished with a 4:41.23 victory, miles ahead of her nearest rivals Victoria Malyutina and Yulia Larina. 

Women 400m Medley 

1. Yana Martynova – 4:41.23

2. Victoria Malyutina – 4:45.23

3. Yulia Larina – 4:48.23

Unfortunately, there was no same joy in the men's event. Evgeny Kulikov, who was best in the men's 400m freestyle with 3:50.46, fell short of the qualifying time.
