During the 27th Summer Universiade, the Kazan State Theatre of Young Spectator will treat residents and visitors to performances based on the works of great Russian classics.
The first performance will take place on July 7. The theatre will open the season with a special screening of Balzaminov's Marriage, the comedy long admired by art lovers. Balzaminov, a petty official, wants to get married, but only to a rich girl. The funny situations, into which the hero continuously falls while searching for his bride, are the plot of the action. Playing the starring role of Misha Balzaminov – is a favourite of spectators in Kazan, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, Arseny Kurchenkov.
On July 8, the performance of Hello, I'm Your Aunt will delight spectators.
In addition, as part of the Cultural Universiade, it will be possible to see such plays as The Doctor in Spite of Himself, A Marriage with a General, Oscar and the Lady in Pink, A Very Simple Story, and A Taste of Honey.
On July 14, closing off the series of productions, as part of the Cultural Universiade, will be the play The Rainmaker. Here, viewers will be able to reflect upon, into whose hands our fragile world should be entrusted to – in the hands of the sober and prudent, or lovers and eccentrics.
The Kazan State Youth Theatre was founded in 1932 and since then every year the audiences have been treated to new performances, great directing and talented acting by the cast. A dynamic, bright, light, and lively atmosphere charges people with positive emotions and can cheer up even the most imperturbable spectator.
