United States Ambassador to Russia referred to XXVII World Summer Universiade opening ceremony as to "a very impressive" one. Michael McFaul, U.S. Ambassador, gave an interview to Leonid Tolchinsky, Director General of Tatar-inform, sharing his impressions on Universiade 2013 opening ceremony that he watched at Kazan-Arena stadium.
"It was a very impressive opening. I was watching it with my wife and sons," - said McFaul. He added that he visited basketball and water polo matches, in which the U.S. team competed. Also, the ambassador visited Universiade Village to see how U.S. sportsmen are doing.
"Everything is great. It's my fourth time in Kazan. I first came here in 1993, and the last time was three years ago, accompanying Hillary Clinton. Even in these three years, Kazan changed a lot. I talked to U.S. sports channel journalists today. They said that in America, nobody have known about Kazan before, but they will now. Universiade helps promoting Kazan. There are many delegations, diplomats, partner-companies representatives here. I think, it is a good advertising for Kazan," - pointed out Michael McFaul.
