Swimmer Yamamoto captures Universiade gold in men's 800m, Kulikov is fifth

The Japanese swimmer Kohei Yamamoto won in the men's 800m freestyle event at the Summer Universiade in Kazan.

Yamamoto finished in 7 minutes 49.96 seconds, Sergey Frolov of Ukraine took silver (7:51.02), bronze went to Eric William Hedlin of Canada (7:53.78). Russia's Evgeny Kulikov came second with the result of 7:56.78 (5th place), another Russian Evgeny Eliseev became 8th (8:04.05).
