29 July 2013, Monday
The second stage of the Open Off-road Quad Series Can-Am Trophy Russia 2013 on Sunday opened in the village of Kluchi of Tatarstan’s Bugulminsky region.

On the second day, the participants had to show their mastery at a specially prepared cross country section.

The competition began at about noon, with a large audience, which was greatly contributed to by fine weather. Participants performing in the ATV over 650 cc scoring group toed the starting line first. Athletes Ivan Stakheev of Yekaterinburg during the first leg sustained an injury, overturning at one of the sections. The race was immediately interrupted, medics rushing to help the participant. Stakheev was taken out of the track on a stretcher.

Despite the unpleasant incident, him and his partner, Vyacheslav Kalimullin after two days of competition won a prize, coming in second at the Open Off-road Quad Series’ ATV over 650 cc category.

On Sunday, Stakheev and Kalimullin led in their scoring group. Stakheev later said he had liked the route. “Everything is readable, neat. We practically made no mistakes. Whenever we did, we simply could not see a crossroads when at a high speed,” he enhanced.

Sergei Kariakin and Ilya Molchanov (Kaliningrad-Yekaterinburg) came in first in this category of the second stage, proving to be the best in their scoring group and at the cross country section. Besides, they were third in the series’ second stage’s overall competition.

Grigory Apter and Alexander Maslov of Yekaterinburg won the third prize in the ATV over 650 cc category and came in second at the Sunday’s competition.

The SSV category competition was as exciting, even despite the rain that drove part of the audience away but the most stalwart ones stayed in place, to witness a keen struggle between the quads.

The crew of Irek Minnakhmetov of Kazan and Anton Vlasuyk of Yekaterinburg literally snatched a victory from their opponents in the final, resulting in their win at the cross country section and in the overall competition.

“It all happened in one breath, excellently,” I. Minnakhmetov shared. “Tatarstan always does everything up to a high standard.”

The final, 3rd, stage of the series will in September take place in Kirov. I. Minnakhmetov said he would like to take part in the concluding competition.
