Maria Kiseleva: “World Aquatics Championship can if it likes move from Barcelona to Kazan today”

7 August 2013, Wednesday
Kazan is at the moment prepared to host the world aquatics championship, Russian synchronised swimmer, 3-time Olympic champion, 3-time world champion, 9-time European champion and TV hostess, Maria Kiseleva, is convinced.

“It has only been one month since Universiade. All the facilities are ready, all service are operational, the city is at a drastically new level, with all the infrastructure. The World Aquatics Championship can, if it likes, move here right from Barcelona,” M. Kiseleva said to reporters after a FINA flag official meeting ceremony.

The world aquatics championship would in 2015 be for the first time held in our country, she recalled.

“It is very honourary, important both for the city and the country, all the sportsmen and fans,” she is convinced. The feelings one has whenever your country’s athletes perform and especially when they win are incomparable to anything, she says.
