Sergiy Stakhovsky, the tournament’s favorite, had to prove his class against Valery Rudnev from Russia. Whilst the Ukrainian clearly dominated the first set, both sportsmen had good opportunities at the opponent’s serves. Stakhovsky proved to be more precise and won 6:2 6:3.
“It is very pleasant to win here. Great conditions, I really liked this tournament, there are many training courts,” – said Sergiy Stakhovsky after the match.
Russian players gave their fans a cause for joy yesterday. In women’s doubles final, Veronika Kudermetova and Evgeniya Rodina won against Alexandra Artamonova and Martina Borecka 5:7 6:0 [10:8]. Russian duo of Victor Baluda and Konstantin Kravchuk played against Ivo Klec (Slovenia) and Jurgen Zopp (Estonia), winning 6:3 6:4.
After the finals were over, the winners and finalists of men’s and women’s tournaments were awarded with cups and memorabilia.
According to press service of Povolzhye Sports and Tourism Academy, yearly Tatarstan Open women’s tournament with the prize fund of $50,000 starts at the outdoor courts of Kazan Tennis Academy on the 24st of August.
