Tatarstan Classical Chess Tournament starts in Kazan

Yesterday, Tatarstan Classical Chess Tournament for girls and boys below 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 started in Kazan, attracting a record-breaking number of 306 participants.

Girls’ and boys’ Swiss-system tournaments include nine rounds and act as a qualification for Volga Federal District Tournament that takes place in the beginning of November. Sofia Matveyeva is the chief judge.

Anastasia Kozina and Ruslan Murtazin, winners of Russian Tournament 2013, Olga Belova and Elsa Khazieva, FIDE Masters, take part in the competition along with other renowned chess players of the republic.

The tournament lasts until the 28th of August, whilst rapid chess competition is held on the 29th of August.
