Tatarstan for 23rd time to host Days of Tatar Youth

23 August 2013, Friday
The 23rd edition of Days of Tatar Youth will this year be held on 25 to 31 August. The event will gather 180 participants from over 30 Russian regions and near abroad, including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. There will be no Tatarstan participants.

Federal National Cultural Autonomy chief of staff, Milausha Sharapova, and Idel youth centre director, Laisan Tukhvatullina, told a news conference about the upcoming event in detail.

The purpose of the days is cultural and national consolidation of the Tatar youth living in other regions and countries, increasing business and cultural contacts, informational exchange in the field of youth policies, research, culture and education, as well as solving issues Tatar youth associations face in the regions.

The participants would be offered a quite extensive programme, L. Tukhvatullina said. Native language, history and culture classes are planned, as well as singing, acting, choreography and journalism lessons. The delegates are to attend various workshops, round table discussions, and meet authorities and media. Besides, the delegates have a unique chance to share their expertise as organisers of round tables on preapproved topics.

Publishing a collection of teaching aids for holding Tatar youth events in regions with large Tatar communities had become tradition, Idel centre director said. This year, the aid is based on programmes sent in from over 30 Russian constituents. The focus is on preserving the native language and drawing young people’s interest to the national culture and history.
