About 100 arts and crafts masters will take part in the fifth international ethnic festival Krutushka, on 23 to 25 August to be held  in the namesake village.

Organisers presented festival’s programme to a news conference at Tatar-inform. Last year, 3 thousand people came to the festival. Alexander Batrakov, an organising committee member, said the original concept, to try link the generations, from the youngest to the eldest, remained unchanged.

Theodosii Spassov Folk Quintet that plays traditional Bulgarian music will come from Bulgaria. The Nadishana Kuckermann Braun quartet will come from Germany, while singer Zulya Kamalova will come from Australia. The list of Russian performers includes the Namgar band from Buratia, Chalama from Tyva and others. Sergei Starostin will as in the previous years arrive from Moscow.

The festival is designed for families and bans alcoholic beverages. Special attention will be given to the children’s section, Moscow shadow theatre Learned Bear to present two shows. Musicians and actors from the Penza theatre for young audience will give a folk-themed performance.

A great many master classes will throughout the 3 days take place in various parts of the site. The themes are crafts, dances and cooking.

Nearly twice as many masters as usually, about 100 from across Russia, will this year take part in the traditional fair. A special pavilion has been built for the fair, where natural shampoos, honey, woodworking instruments and musical instruments will be found.

The festival’s official opening is due at 5 pm on Saturday but the master classes and fair will begin to operate from noon.
