26 August 2013, Monday

Timur Timerzyanov, the current European champion, won President of the Republic of Tatarstan Cup rally.

It became clear that the competition is fierce as early as qualification began. In “D1-SuperCars” division Timerzyanov could not complete the heat due to the collision with a car on the wrong trajectory.

During the final heats, the mechanics repaired the car, so Timur Timerzyanov was able to win.

“Today’s race is unpredictable. I come to President’s Cup for two years in a row – last year, I had an engine issue, today – a serious accident. We could not believe we would race in the final until the last moment, but the guys managed to fix the car,” – said the winner, mentioning that three teams of mechanics worked on the car.

Albert Gaynullin won in “Lada” division. The racer did not expect to win: “I am glad we won the race, it was hard,” – he pointed out.

In “D2-1600” division all three medals went to Tatarstan, with “Timerkhan” pilot Rais Minnikhanov winning the race.

“D1A-Super1600” had its fair share of accidents. Right at the start, Irek Minnakhmetov from “Ghengiskhan” grazed one of the front row cars and bumped into Roman Stepanenko. The race was stopped and both cars were evacuated. During the restarted race, Rasul Minnikhanov from “Namus” rammed into the fence, whilst Djaudat Minnakhmetov’s car broke down. The race ended with Dmitri Bragin’s victory, Mikhail Mityaev coming second and Tatyana Yeliseyeva on the third place.
