Ak Bars whitewashes Avangard

Yesterday, Ak Bars Kazan has had its most confident victory this season – 6:0 against Avangard Omsk.

The team’s result was owed almost completely to the club’s newcomers. Ak Bars was also successful in powerplay – out of six goals, the team scored only once at even strength.

Shaun Heshka opened the score on the 12th minutes during Ak Bars’ powerplay. In half a minute, Chris Bourque doubled the team’s advantage. And five minutes before the end of the first period, Tim Stapleton, another newcomer, scored the third time.

On the 26th minute, the fans saw another powerplay goal from another newcomer – Alexander Burmistrov from Kazan.

In the beginning of the third period, Janne Pesonen scored the fifth goal, whilst Kirill Petrov finalized the score 8 seconds before the final buzzer – 6:0. Emil Garipov, young Kazan goaltender, kept his net safe, not allowing a single goal.

Next, Ak Bars plays against Dinamo in Riga on Tuesday.
