Representatives of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) began their inspection visit to Kazan this week as part of the host city's preparations for the 16th FINA World Championships 2015.
The visit will begin with an official meeting, which is scheduled to be held at the Main International Centre of the Universiade Village on Tuesday, September 24. The event will be attended by FINA President and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Dr. Julio C. Maglione; President of the Russian Swimming Federation and FINA Bureau member Vladimir Salnikov; Senior Vice-President and Executive Director of the Russian Swimming Federation, Grigory Stetsyuk; FINA Executive Director, Cornel Marculescu; Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rafis Burganov; Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate, Vladimir Leonov, and other officials. Together, they will discuss such issues as the composition of the Organising Committee for the upcoming competitions, its structure and masterplan for the FINA World Championships in Kazan.
Members of the delegation will make a tour of sports facilities that are planned to be used for the World Swimming Championships in 2015. The delegates will inspect the Kazan Arena Stadium, the Aquatics Palace, and the Olimp Swimming Pool. In addition, they will visit the new Wedding Palace and the Farmers' Palace. Task meetings will continue in the evening and address issues concerning the development and implementation of the 2015 World Championships marketing programme, ticketing programme, cooperation with partner companies.
The FINA experts will continue their work on September 25-26. Their agenda will include the competition programme, provision of medical services, doping control, accreditation system, safety control, accommodation and catering for client groups, financial and legal issues.
On September 26, Julio Maglione, Cornel Marculescu and Vladimir Leonov will have a meeting with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
