Shombay-fest concludes in Kazan. Part 2

At Akiyat Tatar State Puppet Theatre, the first International Puppet Theatres Festival Shombay-fest-2013 concluded on the 28th of September. Over six days, 14 puppet shows from Tatarstan, Russian regions, France, Turkey, Tajikistan and Belarus performed at the festival.

The awards ceremony started with a video reel demonstrating the most memorable moments of Shombay-fest.

Ingush State youth Theatre was awarded for Choreographic Mastery, whilst Dushanbe State Puppet Theatre received a diploma For Maintaining the Traditions of Street Theatre. Bashkir State Puppet Theatre’s “Cold Heart” performance was awarded for Actors’ Ensemble and Culture of Speech.

The festival’s jury named Brest puppet theatre’s “Canvas Measurer” the best performance of the festival.

Children’s jury, consisting of Kazan schoolchildren, chose to award Teremok Vologda Regional Puppet Theatre’s show “A Bird Named Karl”.

Concluding the awards ceremony, the jury pointed out their certainty that the new tradition of Shombay-fest will be developing in the future.
