Cirque du Soleil returns to Kazan with Dralion show

2 October 2013, Wednesday
Cirque de Soleil comes back to Kazan with a new show. On 26 February to 2 March, 2014, the Canadian circus will present a show called Dralion at Tatneft Arena. The capital of Tatarstan will be the first city in the circus’s tour schedule.

Dralion combines world performance traditions, and mixes styles and genres, which is characteristic of Cirque du Soleil. The show is specifically staged for Kazan, a city whose centuries-old history blends the traditions of two great global civilisations, the circus’s press service told Tatar-inform.

Dralion gets inspiration from the oriental philosophy, with its aspiration for harmony between the humans and the nature. The title is a combination of two creatures, the dragon, much revered in the East, and the lion, symbolising the West.

In the show Dralion, the four elements, supporting the course of nature, come to life in a human image. Each element is represented with its own colour: blue for air, transparent green for water, flaming red for fire and fertile golden for land. The world of Dralion, through mixing cultures, unites the mankind and the nature, to achieve harmony.

The narrative, told in the Cirque du Soleil  language recognisable throughout the world, opens up for the audience new heights of mastery, expanding the notion of human possibilities. The Dralion company includes 50 acrobats, performers, musicians and singers from different parts of the world.
