On 15-18 August, Dmitry Ulyanov’s team took part in the tournament in Japan. The Russian team experienced certain difficulties due to acclimatisation and at the same time got valuable experience of playing versus non-European teams. After defeat versus the Sudzuoki regional team (2-3) and Japan (0-4), Russia claimed a victory versus Uruguay (1-1, on penalties 5-4), and took the third place at the tournament.
