Zenit Kazan starts with a loss in CEV Champions League

Zenit Kazan lost 0:3 to Macerata in the first CEV Champions League's away match.

Kazan team looked nervous at the start of the game, so the Italians took the initiative immediately, leading 7:2. After the time out, Zenit stabilized and started blocking more efficiently. Kazan club even started leading in score - 20:19. However, the emotional uplift was hindered when the referee registered a mistake in passing the ball. When the score was 24:24, Maxim Mikhaylov's mistake decided the end of the set - 1:0.

In the second set, Zenit started playing more evenly, but made five mistakes on return and could not block as efficiently. Meanwhile, Maraceta's Kurek scored 11 points by the end of the second set with 85% of successful attacks, demonstrating a great game. In the end, Kurek and Zaytsev decided the end of the set with their precise attacks - 2:0.

In the third set, Zenit started with good blocks, Sivozhelez scored twice. However, the home team was good at defense, effectively blocking Volkov and Abrosimov. Marco Podrascanin finalized the score - 3:0.

Bartosz Kurek and Ivan Zaytsev scored 18 points, becoming the most efficient players of the game. Zenit's Maxim Mikhaylov scored 15 points.
