Kazan acknowledged as one of world’s sports capitals. Part 3

The news of Universiade Kazan organisers being celebrated internationally was praised by the International Student Sport Federation, FISU. Secretary general, Eric Saintrond, said it was the first time the student games won an award that high.

“I first of all want to congratulate our colleagues in Kazan – they completely deserve the award, since they made Unviersiade the year’s most significant international sporting event. The games were excellent, the organisers achieved perfection in many areas. Universiade got an unprecedented media coverage and aroused a great interest from tourists and viewers. It is safe to say that Kazan opened a new page in the history of student sport,” said Eric Saintrond.

The 27th World Summer Universiade 2013, held in Kazan between 6 and 17 July, was recognised by the International Student Sport Federation as the best in history. Twelve thousand athletes and official delegations from 160 countries took part in it.
