KAMAZ-Master starts Dakar with new engines. Part 4

11 November 2013, Monday

Vladimir Chagin said that the team plans renewing the technical support trucks next year, as the current ones are ten years old. Four new support vehicles will be two meters longer than the ones the team uses, having nine tons of extra capacity for more repair parts.

The head of KAMAZ-Master expressed his opinion that the new rules limiting the trucks' speed by 140 km per hour do not increase the rally safety. The trucks still outrun the cars in the cross-country areas, whilst the smaller vehicles try to close the gap on the straight parts of the road, leading to more dangerous overtaking.

The team left for France, where it will board the ship to South America. Dakar-2014 starts in Rosario, Argentina, on the 4th of January and ends in Valparaiso, Chili, on the 18th of January.
