Vitalina Simonova was second to none in the women's 200m breaststroke final (2.19.95) to win her third national title. Silver went to the representative of the Sverdlovsk Oblast, Anna Belousova (2.23.84), with Vera Kalashnikova of Moscow settling for bronze (2.24.08).
"The result is good, but I expected to perform better," said Vitalina Simonova. "In Moscow, at the stage of the World Cup, I swam 0.7 seconds faster. I think that if Yulia Efimova was here I would have swum better. I'm really looking forward to competing with Yulia in Denmark. The world record at this distance is 2.14 and this is exactly what I'm aiming at."
