The three-time Russian champion and overall breaststroke champion Oleg Kostin claimed gold in the men's 50m breaststroke final (26.71). Igor Golovin of the Khabarovsk Krai (26.76) placed second, while Novosibirsk's Sergey Geibel took bronze (26.86).
"The margin between the winner and runners-up is usually very small, the main thing is not to fumble in the front flip, in touching the wall and to make a good dive off the starting block. Today I did everything well. I was not ready for success like this - I won all breaststroke races - such thing happens for the first time in my career. I am glad that with each competition I'm feeling more and more confident about myself," Oleg Kostin admitted.
