An extended conference of MasterCard's banking partner services took place in Moscow today. The meeting summed up the results of promoting the MasterCard Worldwide payment system in the Russian Federation.
The plenary session of the conference was attended by the Tatarstan delegation headed by First Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatisation of the Republic of Tatarstan, Yury Bagrov, and Director of the Retail Business Department at Ak Bars Bank, Marat Ganeev.
The key topic of the first part of the event was the successful experience of using the innovative MasterCard PayPass contactless payment technology, which was introduced in the build-up to and during the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan.
Director of the Volunteer Department of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate, Alexander Karpov, was also invited to take part in the conference as a special guest. In a joint report, presented together with the coordinator of the Competence Centre, Vice-President of Master Card, Galina Ganeeva, he talked about the successful experience of promoting the PayPass technology among the people of Tatarstan, guests and participants of the Summer Universiade through the 20,000-strong army of Kazan 2013 volunteers who were trained to provide details on how to use the Paypass card to all those interested.
"We thank you for the partnership, which gave us not only real benefit and a positive outcome in the form of increased level of financial literacy in society in the period of the Games, but also the pleasure of cooperation, experience of working with international companies," said Alexander Karpov. "We are especially grateful to you for helping us and providing city volunteers with beautiful information stations throughout the city, which was of great importance both for the volunteers and for the look of the city."
At the conclusion of his speech, he handed out letters of commendation signed by the Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate, Vladimir Leonov, to members of the MasterCard team who had worked with Kazan 2013 volunteers during the Universiade.
