With less than two weeks to go to New Year's eve, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted yet another awards ceremony to acknowledge all those who helped make the 2013 Summer Universiade happen. On December 20, Minister Rafis Burganov met with directors, sports managers and judges who contributed to staging the best Universiade ever held and presented them with awards on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.
"This year has passed under the sign of the Universiade. And it is not over yet. At the end of it, we review the results and thank those who took active part in the preparation and delivery of the Universiade, which was hailed a huge success. The Russian national team won 156 medals. Of course, our athletes made great contributions, and we've already awarded a number of them. Today we are gathered here to say thank-you to judges and managers of our sporting events," the Minister said.
Azat Kadyrov, First Deputy General Director of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate, attended the awards ceremony as a special guest. He also expressed his gratitude to all those present in the hall: "Thank you all so much! Pease accept my sincere congratulatation on receiving these awards. I hope that the Universiade will be a step forward in your career path and the experience that you have acquired while working at the Universiade will help you grow professionally and even reach the Olympic Games in the future."
In July 2013, Kazan brought together athletes, students, journalists and fans from around the world. A clip about the Summer Universiade was shown during the event so that the audience could relive their favorite memories of those magical days. Smiles and tears of pride for the country and the republic came on faces of all those present. "None of those present will never forget those summer days. In addition to breathtaking emotions, the 2013 Games gave us all invaluable experience of staging international competitions," the awardees shared their impressions.
