KAMAZ-Master starts the first stage of Dakar-2014

3 January 2014, Friday
On the 4th of January, Dakar-2014 rally started in Rosario. This year, the opening ceremony was conducted separately from the main start of the race.

The show took place next to the Monumento a la Bandera – a memorial complex dedicated to the first hoisting of Argentinian flag in 1812.

Vladimir Chagin, head of the team, was concerned with the starting positions of Anton Shibalov’s and Dmitri Sotnikov’s crews (545 and 549, respectively). The first stages of the rally will take place on narrow dusty Argentinian roads. Young KAMAZ pilots will have to perform overtakes starting in the tail of the caravan, in a crowded environment with a bad visibility. Also, there are a lot of fallen out and inexperienced drivers on cars, bikes and quads on the first stages of the race. However, due to non-participation of a Dutch pilot, Shibalov was moved forwards to the 524th starting position.

On the 5th of January, the first stage of 809 km with a relatively short special stage of 180 km to San Luis took place.
