Mardeyev’s crew leads after the first stage of Dakar-2014

Ales Loprais came second, yielding only 10 seconds to Mardeyev. Marcel Van Vliet on MAN finished third 21 seconds later.

Another Russian team No. 500, headed by Eduard Nikolaev, ranked fifth. Shibalov’s crew came seventh, whilst Karginov on the 17th place yielded 17 minutes 16 seconds to the leader. Sotnikov’s technical truck came 18th.

The trucks covered the distance between Rosario and San Luis with 180 km of special stage. Today, the trucks will start the second stage of the rally – from San Luis to San Rafael.
