Ak Bars loses at home for the second time in a row. Part 2

8 January 2014, Wednesday
Ak Bars Kazan yielded to Barys at KHL Championship’s home match.

Emil Garipov conceded a goal on the third minute as Mikhail Rakhmanov opened the score from the goalmouth. Tim Stapleton recovered Kazan club’s losses in the middle of the first period: he shot at the goalie’s skates and the rebound ended up in the net – 1:1.

Nikolai Antropov finalized the score as the home team played timidly around their goalposts and it was difficult for Garipov to fend off the goal – 1:2.

Despite two powerplays in the third period, Ak Bars could not score another goal.

Barys got its own back for losing 0:5 in Astana last year, winning four out of five matches. In the meantime, Ak Bars shows the worst series this season despite remaining on the top of Eastern Conference’s tournament table.

The teams leave for a break caused by KHL All-Star Game on the 11th of January in Slovakia. Ak Bars plays its next regular match against SKA in St Petersburg on the 13th.
