President of the International Wrestling Federation (FILA) Nenad Lalovic backed Tatarstan's offer to include the Tatar national belt wrestling Koresh in the programme of multi-sports events. It was announced today at the meeting between Lalovic, Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov, and Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Azat Kadyrov, which took place on the sidelines of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
In the course of the meeting, which was held at the IOC hotel, the parties discussed the evolvement of Olympic and non-Olympic wrestling styles in Tatarstan. Special attention was given to the development of the national belt wrestling Koresh, which was included in the all-Russian register of sports in 2013 and made its debut at the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan, attracting 130 wrestlers from 20 countries of the world.
Nenad Lalovic introduced new approaches to the development of traditional wrestling styles and also expressed his full support for all ideas and proposals for the development of these sports. He also backed the idea of staging tournaments and competitions in traditional wrestling styles and the offer to include the belt wretling Koresh in the programme of multi-sports events.
The FILA President also said that in January he held an extended meeting of the Department of Non-Olympic Disciplines and Tomiaki Fukuda was elected its new chair.
