Managers and employees of departmental museums visited the Universiade Museum located in the Main International Centre, Kazan. The visit of museum experts was held on the sidelines of a seminar dedicated to the 27th World University Summer Games. The organisers of the Universiade Museum - representatives of the FISU International Education Centre - saw it as a great opportunity to learn more about the secrets on how museums are created.
Following a detailed tour of the museum exhibition, which revealed three main topics: Kazan 2013: The Road to Success, Athletes' Achievements and History of Summer Universiades, the experts shared their observations, experiences and tips for arranging the museum space and storing exhibits and revealed some peculiarities of working with various audiences. "A museum must be simultaneously a source of leisure and information," commented Alfia Tutaeva of the Museum of History of National Medicine. "Information must be provided in a consistent manner. Exhibits must be suspended and not propped against something. It's a sign of respect for them." In general, despite the short implementation period, the museum staff hailed the project as completed and successful.
It should be noted that tours of the Universiade Museum are held on a regular basis; on January 31, a tour was arranged for members of the library for visually impaired people. They presented the museum with a Braille book about the Universiade and shared their impressions of this summer's World University Games. In addition, the museum was visited by participants of the Republican Physical Culture Olympics, many of whom were part of a huge team of Kazan 2013 volunteers.
