FINA High Diving World Cup: Orlando Duque adds World Cup crown to his world championship title. Part 2

11 August 2014, Monday

The inaugural FINA High Diving World Cup ended with the Colombian high diver's victory. Two more rounds of the men's competition were contested on the closing day and points awarded for these dives were accumulated with those given in the preliminary rounds. Ilia SHCHUROV (RUS) did well in his attempt but he failed to make it to the top 12 divers who eventually competed for medals. Artem SILCHENKO (RUS) who was 8th after the first three rounds made a breakthrough in his fourth dive. The leading trio included Orlando DUQUE (COL), Gary HUNT (GBR) and Steve LOBUE (USA).

After a dive with a degree of difficulty over 6.0, SILCHENKO temporarily took the lead but the large point deficit after the preliminary rounds didn't allow him to get on the podium. At first he was outrun by LOBUE who was awarded 117.60 points for his final dive, then HUNT executed a confident dive (130.50) and took the provisional lead, but Orlando DUQUE left no chance to his opponents receiving 142.80 for his fifth dive.

DUQUE added the 2014 World Cup gold to his world championship title. SILCHENKO settled for the fourth place. Just like a year ago, HUNT took silver. LOBUE grabbed bronze.

1. Orlando DUQUE (COL) - 601.20

2. Gary HUNT (GBR) - 580.05

3. Steve LOBUE (USA) - 571.70

4. Artem SILCHENKO (RUS) - 555.00
